New England Law | Boston, Centennial Exhibits
New England Law | Boston
Exhibit Design: proun
Content Development: Sarah Morris
Web Development: Big Ring Design
Fabrication: WB Inc.
Budget: $100k
In 1908, Arthur McLean began accepting women in his class of students preparing for the Massachusetts bar exam. By 1919, Portia Law School was born, the only law school in America established exclusively for women. Portia eventually became New England Law | Boston (NEL|B) and is now co-ed but was a pioneer in providing opportunities for women in the legal profession.
Proun was contracted to design and implement exhibits commemorating the 100th anniversary of this innovative school. Window banners featuring notable graduates promote the centennial themes to the public; inside the library, time line panels chronicle important milestones; interactive media kiosks feature oral histories and artifact displays; an attract loop of historic images displayed on a flat screen in the entry lobby conveys the proud heritage of the school to students and visitors.
