With a population of just under 600, Plains, Georgia proved a point; with hard work, determination, and the support of an enthusiastic community, an American can rise from a rural environment to become President of the United States. New exhibits in the humble train depot where he ran his campaign chronicle the dramatic story of Jimmy Carter’s unlikely victory in 1976.

Exhibit graphics informed by period newspapers and campaign ephemera focus on the support that this small community provided for their local candidate.
